Logitech G920 Review

But if you really want to enjoy the full-scale racing experience, a professional gaming wheel is a must-have. And that’s where Logitech G920 comes in handy. It’s a great place to start for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox gamers to enjoy their favorite racing games with the freedom of a great stick and wheel.

It’s pretty hard not to get impressed by this wheel because it packs so many features. After testing it for countless hours, here’s our gripping review of how this gaming wheel can build your interest.

Logitech G920 Review: Design

Logitech has a history of making premium PC components. That’s the same with the G920 driving force. From the stainless steel to the leader wrapped around the wheel, it definitely doesn’t look or feel cheap at all.

In terms of setup, you have full access to game controls thanks to an operational D-pad, console buttons, and paddle shifters on the back. The included 3 paddle unit allows you to break, race and clutch at the same time.

The Logitech G920 is not impressive for gamers, but for learners as a wheel. You can test your driving skills here, before hitting on the actual roads.

Logitech G920 Review: Steering Performance

The act of steering with this unit is a complete joy, With an impressive 90 degrees of rotation, the wheel feels more premium to most of the actual cars you can see on road. It feels like you’re actually driving something with a real force in your hands rather than an arcade toy.

The movement is smooth, exciting, and definitely one of the best mid-tier force feedback in any wheel out there. If there’s a tight turn around the corner, you will feel that. If there are bumps on the road, you will feel that. Under oversteer, you will feel that too. You might first lose your first couple of games because it takes a little time if you’re shifting from traditional controllers. But once you get a hang of it, you will not go back.

The ergonomics are great and the placement of buttons is easily available at your fingertips. An actual handbrake would be nice to have in the set but you can always change the mapping of your button and play around with settings.

Logitech G920 Review: Gear Performance

Logitech G920 comes with a built-in paddle shifter or a separate manual gears shifter if you want to enjoy the extra thrill. The paddle shifters are nicely made under your fingers which are perfect to manage in your gameplay. We’ve tested this device on Project cars, Forza Horizon 4, and Dirt Rally, all of which perfectly worked fine with both automatic and manual shifters.

Logitech G920 Review: Pedal Performance

And the last thing you’ll get in the box is the pedals that mean you have a race, clutch, and brake built-in to the feet pads. The pedals are perfectly aligned with the steering wheel and feature amazing technology called “pressure-sensitive” to make it look more natural and nonlinear.

The brake mimics the performance of the game and response as per the controls. The base of the pedals is sturdy so you can easily place your foot on it and enjoy your games. The patented retractable carpet grip makes it super easy for you to stay in your position, as well as the pedals.

Setup and Installation

The Logitech G920 driving force wheel has the same wheelbase mounting as any other wheel out there. It can be bolted into the surface or you can use the standard pressure mounting on the table. The wheel slides onto a table and has two knobs that you have to twist to make it push down to the surface.

To get the best experience, it is always recommended to drill holes with the alignment as it reduces the shakiness of the wheel. There’s also a separately built section for cable management at the back of the wheel, in case you want everything to look clean. The pedals on the other side don’t have a placement option. You can just place them on the floor or carpet and they will not slide from your feet.

There’s one power cord to plug in the wall and a USB to attach to your computer or console. Once powered, the wheel will perform a bit of testing and you’re good to go.

Price

The Logitech G920 starts at $400 for the standard wheel and pedals and add in the manual gear shifter the price will become $460. There are two models in this category, one which is supported for Xbox-PC (G920) users and the other one for PS4-PC users (G29).

More likely, that’s about the same as you can pay for your console, While the Logitech G920 impressively builds and offers a lot of value, its price range limits it to a competitive market. However, you can buy it from seasonal sales at well which can significantly reduce the cost. Last time, Logitech had it on sale for only $249, that’s up to 37% in price cut.

So should you buy it?

Again, the Logitech G920 is an amazing steering wheel that justifies its price tag with an ergonomic design, strong build quality, force feedback, pleasant steering experience, and potential for expansion.

But despite justifying its price tag, it’s still not affordable for a lot of gamers out there. And the features make it pretty much limited to only the racing games. If you’re an arcade gamer, who plays open-world games then it’s a good choice for you as well.

Bottom line, if you’re getting into serious Xbox, PC, or PS4 racing games, then Logitech G920 is a great and worthwhile option.
